It’s a short ride on the bike to the airport. You breathe in the cold night air, but it does little to shake your exhaustion. You park the bike in the first spot you can find and leave the keys as you doubt you will ever need it again and head for the check-in.

The terminal is busy, even for this time of night. You walk over to your check-in counter and stand in the short queue. You complete check-in and pass though security and passport control without incident, apart from the stares your grotty appearance attracts. You land in Geneva in the early hours of the morning. A screaming baby kept you from sleeping and now you are grumpy as well as tired. You can see Emily is in no better mood.

“Let’s just get to the campus,” she says and then yawns out load.

A row of taxis are parked in front of the station and you get into the first one. Kate emails the contacts at the university again. An immediate reply confirms that they are waiting for you at the campus. Twenty minutes later you are inside the labs.

“We really need the professor to assist us with making sense of his research,” one of the students say. “We can upload it as Kate intended, but it will take a really long time and a dedicated team to build something useful.”

At least you succeeded in getting the information to the word and keep it from being weaponised.

The end.
