“Let’s get to the car!” you shout towards Emily and Kate. Fear spurs you on to run faster. Emily is slightly ahead of you. Kate is slower than you and falls back, you slow down so that she can catch up.
Crack! Crack! Crack! The agents let rip of a steady stream of bullets. The sound if slowly falling behind you. Their intent is deadly, they are not interested in following you.
There is a slight bend in the road. “If we make that we are free!” You think to yourself.
Another crack and a stifled cry from Emily. She drops like a puppet whose strings have been cut.
“No!” Kate shouts, she stops and turns towards Emily. She looks at her chest in surprise, a dark red spot growing bigger. She looks at you and falls, face planted in the dirt.
Three more shots ring out. You don’t hear anything else.
